Does Japanese jujitsu mix well with Brazilian jiu-jitsu?

Yes! Helio Gracie and his brothers were tought by a Judo practitioner, and Judo comes from Jujitsu. I would believe that the competition style of BJJ and the self defense aspect of Japanese Jujitsu would go well together.
