What type of martial art doesn't use belt rankings? Why?

We all know that karate, jujitsu, tae kwon do, and a lot of other types of martial arts uses the belt rankings such as white belt, blue belt, black belt, etc. What type of martial art doesn't use belt rankings and why? How about muay thai and kung fu do they use belt rankings? why or why not?
